Website Accessibility Help

You can take action to adjust your web browser to make your web experience more accessible to you.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing

If you are deaf or hard of hearing, several accessibility features are available.

Transcripts: A transcript is a text equivalent of audio information that includes spoken words and non-sound effect

  1. Captioning: A caption is a transcript of the audio track of a video presentation synchronized with the video and studio tracts.  Captions are generally rendered visually by being superimposed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing and anyone who cannot hear the audio.  Learn how to turn captioning on and off on YouTube. Click here for the video.

  2. Volume controls:

  3. Your computer, tablet, or mobile device has volume control features.  Each video and audio service has additional volume controls.  Adjust your device's and media player's volume controls to optimize your listening experience.

If you find a keyboard or mouse hard to use

If you find a keyboard or mouse difficult, speech recognition software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking may help you navigate web pages and online services.  This software allows the user to move around a web page or application screen through voice controls.

If you are blind or cannot see very clearly

If you have trouble seeing web pages, the US Social Security Administration offers tips for optimizing your

computer and browser to improve your online experience.

  1. Use your computer to read web pages out loud.

  2. Increase text size.

  3. Magnify your computer screen.

  4. Change the background and test colors for better visibility.

  5. Make your mouse pointer more visible.

  6. Use the keyboard to navigate the screen.
